This guide will show you how to get started with the XML Export Module. If you need more in-depth explanation, click the Help menu, or press Ctrl + Shift + H on your keyboard to view a Help file.

It is assumed that you have set up a 14-day trial account on our hosted server or that 3f Software Planner has been installed on your own server. It is furthermore assumed that you are already familiar with the basic functionalities of all the modules in the 3f Software Planner.  If you have not yet set up the trial account, go to http://www.3f-project-management.com/start/ to do so.

The XML Export module has the following functionalities:

  • You can export virtually all the data in the 3f Software Planner as XML files.

  • You can create macros in i.e., Excel for further data analysis.

Getting Started

Step 1.  Create an XML File

Click the Tree view > Enterprise > XML Central

On the loaded page, click the Add New icon to add a new XML Export file.

Step 2. Define data to export

From the subsequent page, choose the XML base, enter a description, then check off all the tags you want to export; then press Save.

Step 3. Export data

To export data, click the link Export XML across the XML file you want to export. Depending on type of data being exported, this may take a few seconds.

Step 4. Getting the XML file

When the XML file has been exported, click the link "View XML" across the XML file being exported. From the subsequent popup page, you can either

a) Click the file you want to get. It opens up a new browser window. Choose File > Save As, then save it on your computer.

b) Tick the checkbox next to the file you want to get, then click the button "Send file to me as email". The file will then be sent to you as an email attachment if you have enabled the sending of emails in the System Defaults.

Step 5. Use the XML Export

The XML Export is designed to let you further manage and move data in Software Planner. Read about that in the SDK section.
