Test Management Module
This guide will show you how to get
started with the Test Management Module. If you need more in-depth
explanation, click the Help menu, or press
Ctrl + Shift + H on your keyboard to view
a Help file.
It is assumed that you have set up a 14-day
trial account on our hosted server or that 3f
Software Planner has been installed on your own
server. It is furthermore assumed that you are
already familiar with the
functionality of the Base Module. If you have not yet set up the trial
account, go to
http://www.3f-project-management.com/start/
to do so.
The Test Management module has the
following functionalities:

You can create product test plan.

You can systematically execute the
product testing.

You can run the same test case multiple
times and track the progress.
-
You can import and export test cases as
XML.
Getting Started
Step 1. Create a test case
Click the
Tree view > Projects > Name of Client >
Project Name > Test Cases
On the loaded page, click the Add New icon to add
a new test case.
Step 2. Add test questions
Click the link Test Questions in column
"Step 1".
From the new page, add individual test
questions by clicking the Add New icon or
Import icon. Clicking the Import icon
lets you import tasks from the task list,
which then can be used as basis for the
test questions. Consult the Help file for
more information on the different test
question types.
Step 3. Testing
3.1 Before a test case can be executed, it
must be set to "Ready for Testing". Only
an Enterprise Manager and Project Manager can set
a test case as "Ready for Testing". Click on
the Test Case name on the main test case
page, then check the "Ready For
Testing" checkbox.
3.2 In the test case list, choose Step 2,
"Testing". On the subsequent page, click
the button "Test". Consult the Help file
for more information on entering the test
score.
Step 4. Review
When all test questions have been tested,
the results must be reviewed. Click Step 3
"Reviewing" on the main test case page.
You can either review all test questions
in one go or review each test score
individually.
Information: When you have finished
the review, the test case can be run again.
The system keeps track of the test score
for each individual test run. All test
items that either failed or got a score of
1 are moved into the Errors and Change
system because the system assumes that
there is something that needs to be fixed.
Step 5. Additional test case
information
5.1 You can create a copy of an existing
test case either within the project or in
another project.
5.2 You can import and export test cases
as XML.
5.3 When an error has been resolved in the
Errors and Change system, that error is
automatically moved as a "Floating Test
Case" so that such error can be re-tested.
The name of such test case begins with: "Test
Case" then followed by a sequential number. When a floating test case
has been set to "Ready for Testing", the
system creates a new dynamically created
test case incrementing the number.
5.4 There is no limit to the number of
test cases you can set up for a project.
Inform your coworkers
Now that you have a general idea of the
new features added with the Gantt diagram
and Planning module, inform you coworkers
about the following:

An item in Errors and Changes starting
with the word "FAILED" means that the
error comes from the test system.

When an error has been resolved in the
Errors and Change system, that error is
automatically moved to a "Floating Test
Case" so that the error can be re-tested.
