When you submit a
timesheet one of the requirements is that you enter the remaining hours
you have left on a task. This is done in the
Rem. Hrs. field. on the submit timesheet
page. The remaining hours are used by the project manager (if you have the
Approval
Management module) or the person is in charge of the project if you do
not as basis for adjusting the remaining hours left on the project.
Adjusting the remaining hours in the project is done on the
Task Remaining
Hours Page in the project management section.
If you leave the Rem. Hrs. field blank,
the system will display a message box with
the following text:
You have not entered your remaining hours
for one or more tasks in the Rem.
Hrs. field. If you continue without
entering the remaining hours, the system
will assume that you have 0 remaining
hours on the task(s) and enter that for
you. Do you want to continue without
entering the remaining hours?
If you choose to ignore this message box
the system will then enter 0 hours on your
behalf for the task or tasks you are
submitting timesheet for. In the Project
Management console you will be listed as
having 0 hours left on the task.
It is important to understand, that the
system does not calculate the remaining
hours you have left on a task. You
must estimate how many hours you have left
on the task. While this does require
a little extra work, and forces you to sit
down and evaluate how much time you have
left, the end result is more accurate.
