Microsoft are
working on the new Internet Explorer version 7.0, the successor to
Internet Explorer 6.0. Currently (as of November 1, 2005)
IE 7 is being tested by software developers and system
integrators all over the world. The version currently being used is Beta 1
which not available to general public. Therefore, unless you work for a
Microsoft Partner company you will most likely not be able to download it.
Also, we do not have any knowledge about the release date.
The screenshot below
shows Internet Explorer 7.00 running 3f Project 2006.
Does IE7 bring new
features to 3f Project 2006?
Since 3f Project 2006 does not expose the address
bar or the default menus the UI gains are
limited. The only notably improvement is
that the loading time will decreased
marginally because IE7 supports the PNG
images format. In IE6 all PNG images (i.e.
icons) are converted by 3f Project 2006 before they are rendered. Native
support for PNG does away with this step
and as a result the loading time will be
marginally decreased.
Is it OK to use IE7
with 3f Project 2006?
Yes and no. We do not
guarantee at this early stage that
everything works flawlessly so if you want
to use IE7 you do so at your own
risk. We are
testing it now, and all know issues will
be posted here. We are monitoring
all issues and awaiting Beta 2 of IE 7
before we make a decision on what will be
done to resolve the issues found.
Issues
1. Printing is not functioning. When the
Print Preview screen is displayed IE 7
also presents you with a security warning
and then halts the execution of the print
preview.
2. Ctrl + T short cut no longer works. In
IE7 this short cut is used to create a new
tab. In 3f Project 2006 the
shortcut is used to open the task list.
