Project testing with 3f Software Planner

Setup Test Case

There is no limited to the number of test cases and test questions that can be defined in the 3f Software Planner test management system. Test cases can be copied. If you make software you may for instance want to run the same test case for different operating systems. The test questions and actions are most likely the same so copying the test case will save time. You can also copy test cases from one project to another if you do similar tests on different projects. As the image below shows, the test procedure is divided into 3 steps, define test questions, perform the test and finally review the test results. If test cases are run multiple times - as is normal - the system keeps track of the test score for each run. The system also keeps track of both the test score and review score if the two differ.

Step 1. Define test questions

You can either enter test questions manually or you can import the task list as basis for your test questions. The image below shows test questions being imported. You can change the order the test questions will be presented to the tester.

Test questions can also be entered manually as can be seen below.

Step 2. Testing

When the test questions have been setup the next step is the actual testing. The test is conducted in the order defined by the person who setup the test case. The score obtained by the test question and the cumulative test score is automatically calculated as the test progresses.

Step 2.1 Test question list

The image below shows what a test case can look like when it has been tested. Note the test score at the bottom

Step 3. Reviewing

When the test case has been tested it is reviewed. Depending on your company policies the test case is reviewed by the person who ran the test case or by a designated reviewer. When the review is finished the test score is entered into the test score report.
