User Roles

The Management module gives you the ability to assign different roles to the resources working with the system. The module has 3 roles build in, Enterprise Manager, Project Manager and Project Member.

Enterprise Manager

The Enterprise Manager has access to the entire system without any restriction. Enterprise managers can add projects, users, tasks, approve timesheets and assign resources to work on projects.

Project Manager

The Project Manager has all the tools he or she needs to efficiently mange projects but do not have access the administrative area of the 3f Software Planner. Project managers have the unique ability of being a project manager and project member at the same time. If a user with project manager role works on a project where he or she is not the project manager then the user automatically assumes the role of a project member meaning he or she will only have access to project member tools. When a project manager user changes to a project where he or she is a project manager then the tools for project managers are enabled. Project managers can setup new projects but cannot assign resources to work on the project. Only enterprise managers can assign users to a project.

Project Member

Project members are the users with the least access. A Project Member has only access to the tools he or she needs in order to work efficiently on the project. Project members can track time, enter issues, enter tasks etc. If a project member enters a new task this task must be approved by the Project Manager or any Enterprise Manager before time can be tracked on it.

The image below shows 7 users in a typical company. In the role column you can see the role assigned to the resource. The role for a resource can be changed any time. For instance you can change a resources from Project Member to Project Manager to run a particular project, then when the project is finished change the user back to Project Member.
