This add-on can be
downloaded from the download
section and installed on your own
server. The module is enabled in all
hosting servers. The add-on is
compatible with 3f Project 2006 and
3f Software Planner 2006. (Please do
not let the images below confuse you
but one system had to be chosen for
the screenshots :-)
The Project Costing Add-On is an
Add-On is designed to help you
estimating and following up on
project costs. This is achieved by
assigning an hourly cost for each
login resource as well as an hourly
billing rate for each activity in
your system. Once that's done you
assign the number of hours you
expect each login resource will work
on each task in the system. When the
project commences, you follow up by
using the post-calculation tool also
included with this add-on.
Features
- Estimate the project cost
- Estimate the project price
- Estimate the project profit
- Track who change the projection
(The system tracks everyone who
makes changes to either pre or post
calculation)
Customization
This add-on is not compiled and you
have full access to the source code.
See how we have developed it if you
want to make your own add-on using
the
SDK.
Step 1. Entering Hourly Cost
For each login resource in the
system enter the hourly cost
including the login resources fixed
cost. This is a one time operation,
once entered you'll not need to
adjust this unless you add more
login resources or your cost base
changes. If you have the Approval
Management Module, then this section
can only be viewed and modified by
Enterprise Managers.

2. Enter Hourly Billing Rate
Enter the hourly billing rate you
charge your customers for each
activity setup in the system. Just
like the hourly cost this is a one
time operation unless you add new
activities. If you have the Approval
Management Module, then this section
can only be viewed and modified by
Enterprise Managers.

3. Pre-Calculation
Once your cost and billing rates
have been entered it is time to make
the pre calculation. This is done by
opening the page Pre-Calculation and
then enter the number of hours you
expect each login resource working
on the project will be working on
each task. The system automatically
calculate the cost (Hours Allocated
X Hourly Cost for each login
resource assigned to the task) and
the projected profit by deducting
the total hourly cost for all login
resources from the Sales Price
(Planned Hours X Hourly Billing
Rate). If you have the Approval
Management Module, then this section
can only be viewed and modified by
Enterprise Managers or Project
Managers.

3.1 Total Profit Projecting
To see the profit projection for the
project scroll to the bottom of the
page as illustrated in the image
below.

4. Post Calculation
When the project commences you
follow up by going to the
Post-Calculation page where you can
see the actual cost incurred by each
login resource who have worked on
the project (Hours worked X Hourly
Cost).
The remaining cost is estimated by
you. The remaining hours for each
task as set in the Task Remaining
Hours page are shown in the Task Rem
Hrs. field below the cost breakdown
of each task. Across from this
number is an entry field "Hourly
Cost" where you have to enter an
average hourly cost rate for the
remaining hours on the task. While
this is not 100% exact (due to the
login resources different rates) it
will give you a fairly accurate
estimate of the total cost for the
task. If you have the Approval
Management Module, then this section
can only be viewed and modified by
Enterprise Managers or Project
Managers.
